Brian Pope

Executive Director

Brian Pope, LCSW has served as the Executive Director at the Northwest Children's Home, Inc (NCH), since May 2015. In 1994, Brian started his social services career with an emphasis on working with youth and their families.  He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Associates in Criminal Justice in 1995. He worked in Juvenile Justice Services and Residential Care holding various positions such as Residential Treatment Staff, Team Lead and House Manager in Pocatello, Idaho at the Bannock Youth Foundation.

In 1997, he moved to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, and earned his Master's Degree in Social Work in the year 2000 from Eastern Washington University (Go Eagles!). Brian completed a 2 year internship at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Children and Family Services and was hired on as a Licensed Social Worker working in Child Welfare and then Clinician for Children's Mental Health working in Benewah and Shoshone counties in Region 1. In 2002 he earned his clinical endorsement as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

In 2005, Brian and his family moved to Genesee, Idaho, where he was transferred to the position of Chief of Child Welfare in Lewiston, Idaho covering Region 2 and then served as the Hub Region 1 & 2 Chief of Children's Mental Health until he transitioned to NCH in 2014.  Brian has made his professional career all about serving one of the most vulnerable populations of youth in our society that have suffered from trauma due to abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.  He is proud of the transformation NCH has made over the past 10 years in becoming a trauma informed and clinically competent organization that has diversified numerous programs focused on obtaining the best treatment outcomes for the youth and families served.  

Brian lives in Genesee with his wife Tami who is a Speech Language Therapist - they have just celebrated their 30th year anniversary. They have two sons: Coltin who lives in Boise and works for a company managing different information systems and Austin who works in the Agriculture Department at the University of Idaho & is married to Jordan with new daughter Paisley. All of them graduated with their Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!).

Brian's personal interests include but are not limited to: spending time with his family & friends, camping, “bow hiking” for elk, muzzleloader hunting, boating & bass fishing on Dworshak Reservoir, fly fishing for trout and UTV riding all over Idaho. Brian loves to be in the woods and enjoy Idaho public lands! He and Tami are also enjoying traveling more at this stage of their life together which they have plans to do more of over the upcoming years.
